In the movie, Bruckner was portrayed as a high school student having an illicit affair in a relationship with David Strathairn. Bruckner was an actress from California in Hollywood born to Hungarian parents as well as Russian mothers who had separated. The paternal grandparents of Bruckner were German. She is the daughter of Hungarian parents who met in Hungary. Her family emigrated to U.S.A. through an Italian refugee camp in 1984. There are two sisters as well as a brother.
