Amanda Brugel

(February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a sleepy community on this part of the island of Montreal called"the West Island. It is a part of the island that has been called "the West Island." West Island has a lot of different communities. Many who've never heard of it often think it is a separate, west-facing island. Amanda Brugel was born there however her stay there was short. Brugel lived in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. Her first ambition was to be an expert dancer. But, a growing spurt caused her to outgrow all of the dance partners she had. In an interview with Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels I'm 6 feet and 1 inch." As I grew older than my male companions, I quit. A lot of former dancers go on to acting and in Brugel's case it was a nudge from the drama instructor at her high school who encouraged her to go in that direction. The teacher who suggested she pursue a role for the annual school production. It was her choice to take on the lead part in Anne of Green Gables after she auditioned for. It led to the award of a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program which she graduated with the Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Brugel's career spans over 20 years and she has performed in more than 60 shows that have screened on large screens and smaller ones. The most well-known role she played was as Rita (pictured beneath) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel made an appearance on only a handful of instances in the initial season of the series The Handmaid's tale. She was the sole Canadian actor.
