Selena Gomez has a worldwide reputation as an actor and singer. She has been involved in numerous projects, however her involvement in the Disney show Wizards of Waverly Place has enjoyed the highest success. Selena Marie Gomez is her full name. She was born July 22, the 22nd of July, 1992 at Grand Prairie Texas. Amanda Cornett is her mother and Ricardo Gomez is her father. Selena was the first child of her mother, who was only 16 at the age of Selena. Her first professional acting job as a showbiz actress at the age of 9 as she was Gianna in Barney and her Friends. She was among many children to have played with Barney, the famous anthropomorphic pink dinosaur. Selena played a role in many episodes of seasons 7 and 8 in the period 2001 and 2003. Fun fact: Selena isn't the only one who sang in Barney as well as his Friends at this time; Demi Lovato was also part of the ensemble cast for the show. Selena Gomez, after she quit the show, was unsuccessful in auditions for films and other television shows. Following the end of the show, Selena auditioned for several roles in other film and television shows, but was not very successful. The character as Emily Grace Garcia was assigned to her in 2006's Brain Zapped, for which she wrote music.
